What is your personality type? This is a commonly asked question in interviews today. There are very many personality type quizzes and tests to help you “better understand yourself” and more and more people are using these results to justify their actions, their behaviors, their relationships and how they associate with others.

One of the most common excuse or “acceptable weakness” is that I am kind of a perfectionist and so I prefer working alone than in groups” Well, this may not necessarily be a bad thing, but having this kind of mindset will not only separate you from others and prevent you from being a team player, but it will also hinder you from forming great relationships and deriving the satisfaction of seeing tasks completed faster and better since different people contribute unique gifts that lead to the team’s overall success.

God the Father is the one who created the world but he was not alone. We read in Genesis Chapter 1:26 that “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Who was he referring to? From verse 1-25, he simply spoke and it was! So why did he have to bring “US” into the picture? It is because God knows that Unity produces great fruits.

Each person has a role to play in the Kingdom of God. No role is too small. No Gift is withheld from anyone who desires it. It is made available for all. Our focus should be on Gloryfying God and being true to our calling. We are to avoid comparing ourselves to other people. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 12 that 4 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. “ In addition, verse 11 states that “All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills”God has blessed each of us with unique gifts that are all important for progressing the Gospel for God!

We read in Psalms 84:11 “For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows grace and favor and glory. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” He is a Faithful God. He sent his son to die for ALL OF US. All because of his Love for us! So why should I separate myself from others who are called into service for God just as I am. Why should I struggle alone in my Christian walk when I could lean on others? God offers the best example of Teamwork, role-sharing and he places value on each persons contribution. Isn’t that beautiful? Let us walk together!
